Brisbane Metro Depot
The state-of-the-art Brisbane Metro Depot was completed and opened for metro services in October 2024
More than 400,000 hours of construction transformed the 10-hectare site at Rochedale into Australia’s largest electric bus depot for the Brisbane Council’s fleet of electric metros.
The depot has 65 chargers installed, including five fast chargers, more than 2300 solar panels and onsite maintenance and staff facilities.
The depot is the largest and most advanced facility of its kind in Australia and its location at School Road will allow the metros to integrate seamlessly into the South East Busway.
The depot has a 5 Star Green Rating for its sustainable design with the site to use harvested rainwater and recycled water for vehicle washing.
The more than 2300 solar panels at the depot will each year provide enough clean energy equivalent to the power consumed by 280 homes and avoid carbon emissions equivalent to taking more than 500 cars off the road.

Greenbank BESS
The Greenbank Battery is a large-scale battery in the Logan City Council area. The battery has a discharge capacity of 200 megawatts and can store 400 megawatt hours of energy. This means during the evening peak demand period, the battery can power 66,000 homes for up to two hours before needing to recharge.
The battery comprises 108 Tesla Megapack 2XL units. Each Megapack is made up of the battery module, paired with its own inverter and associated heat management systems and wiring. The Megapack is one of the safest battery storage products of its kind. Units undergo extensive fire testing and include integrated safety systems, and specialised monitoring software.
The Greenbank Battery is CS Energy’s second battery project. CS Energy also owns the Chinchilla Battery, which commenced commercial operations in 2024.
